Top 5 Reasons People Get Tattoo Removal
Getting a tattoo can be a very exciting adventure. For me personally I have loved the process and absolutely love my tattoos. I spent months planning and worked with the artist to make sure that every detail was just perfect. But what happens after all that planning and that tattoo does not come out the way that you expected? This is a common issue that leads people in search of tattoo removal. Take it from my first hand experience as a physician assistant who operates the Picosure tattoo removal laser. I have seen it all! Here are the top reasons that I see for tattoo removal.
Unhappy W/ the Finished Product
Sometimes it can be hard to take your ideas and translate them to your artist so they can translate to paper and ultimately your skin. I hear it all to often that someone comes in looking for removal because they just don’t like the way the tattoo turned out. There are many reasons for this. To make sure you process is the best have an open line of communication with your artist and make revisions to your tattoo until it is perfect for you. If you don’t like the way something looks on paper odds are you will not like it on your body. Don’t be afraid to speak up!
Location, Location, Location
This is a big one! A lot of my clients love the finished product of the tattoo but hate the placement. Even when they have thought it out carefully. It is one thing to think about what a tattoo will look like on your collar bone and a different situation when it is there. Make sure as you are doing your research and thinking about the placement of your next tattoo that you imagine in all situations. How will it look in a tank top, bathing suit, and formal ball gown.
Impulsive Decisions
Another main reason I see for tattoo is a little thing called bad judgment. Or better yet impaired judgment due to alcohol. It is never a good idea to get a tattoo on an impulse because you have been drinking liquid courage. Also just like your parents told you “don’t give into peer pressure”. Just because you have a group of friends getting a tattoo does mean you automatically have to pick something out as well. Tattoos are a beautiful way to express yourself and your artistic tastes. If it takes you longer to decide what to wear than which tattoo to get- you might want to re-evaluate.
Cover up Gone Wrong
I am sure some of you out there are ready to argue with me that there are amazing cover up artists out there. I will agree I have seen some magic things done with ink. But I am also realistic. If you understand anything about tattoo you know that if you are looking into a cover-up it will more than likely be darker than your original tattoo and larger in size. If the artist is not working with a clean slate it is hard for them to give you a quality product. What was once a small initial tattoo on your finger that you though was going to be covered with a pretty flower is not a big blob of ink. Before you rush into a cover-up at lease entertain the idea of doing a few sessions of laser to lighten your current tattoo. It will give your artist more wiggle room in what they can accomplish.
The Dreaded Ex
This is probably the most common of all reason for tattoo removal. There are few things in life that are 100% guarantees. And even though it may seems like it at the time, marriage is no exception. Breakups and divorces are a rough part of life. But have that name of your ex in plain slight can make the process a little harder. Not to mention how your next significant other is going to feel about that name permanently on your skin. Laser tattoo removal is a great option in this case to literally erase a reminder of a not so pleasant time.
So I hope that you are reading this blog before you make any of the above mistakes. If I am a little late with the advice and you already have a tattoo that you would like to remove or lighten I also have the Picosure laser. I have been using lasers for a number of year and the Picosure is be far my favorite. I am able to fully clear tattoos in about 6 treatments with no risk of scarring to skin. I love my machine so much I have even given him a nickname of “Henry”. So if you are considering laser tattoo removal I invite you to stop in Millefiori in downtown Melbourne, fl to meet myself and Henry for a free consultation.
