What To Do During Your Wedding Week!
It’s Iris’ wedding week and we’ve been prepping with facials, peels, Botox and products. If you are anything like our staff, you’ve noticed this week has snuck up on you like your 15 year high school reunion. So now that it’s your wedding week and you’re on a single day countdown, what should you be doing for your skin? Do you need to be doing anything special or should you stop your Retin-A?
SLEEP
Sounds easier said than done but it’s tremendously important for your skin. Lack of sleep can create a dull complexion, enhance under eye circles and even aid in breakouts. Try to get at least 7-8 hours the week of and 8+ the night before the wedding. Try to sleep on your back to avoid facial/declotte creases. If you’re an out of town bride, bring your pillow or special sleeping aids to ensure a good night’s rest.
EAT AND DRINK YOUR FRUITS AND VEGGIES
Fresh fruits and veggies have high volumes of water that help you obtain your bridal glow. Berries and leafy greens are great for an antioxidant boost and can be juiced as well. The more hydrated you are, the better your skin will look for your wedding week and hold the makeup you are paying for. DO NOT DO A JUICE CLEANSE. The week of the wedding is not the time to do a juice cleanse – you can get a “purge” of breakouts from your body detoxing. I REPEAT: DO NOT DO A JUICE CLEANSE!
DON’T ADD ANYTHING NEW
I cannot stress this enough. Your skin can be more unpredictable your wedding week due to stress. Don’t add to skin havoc possibilities by adding anything new to your routine that you’ve never tried. Maintain your normal regimen if it’s been working well and keep “neutral” with your exfoliant. If you have a good relationship with your esthetician (like I do with my patients), they may give you a hydrating mask for the night before the wedding for extra moisture – and follow their directions carefully.
WORST CASE SCENARIO
Stuff happens and sometimes you do everything right and your skin still freaks out on you. DON’T PANIC! Here at Millefiori in downtown Melbourne, we have an arsenal of tools at our disposal, including dermatological prescriptions and antibiotics that can zap that zit! That’s why going to a boutique medical skincare facility is so important to get the most customized care.
ENJOY AND SMILE! REALLY!
It’s your big week and you are getting married to the love of your life. If you smile, it becomes contagious, and you will look more beautiful than ever! I know the months leading up to this have been hectic, stressful and downright elope-thought-provoking – but you made it! Smile and enjoy!
Till Next Time Melbourne!
Love the Skin You’re in.
