8 Questions to ask your provider about getting Botox

So you have decided that Botox might be for you, you have taken the step forward and scheduled a consultation. Now what!?! You want to be prepared with questions to ask before Botox to make sure you are getting the best information about your appointment and making sure that you are picking a qualified provider. Here are a list of 8 basic questions you should be asking at your consultation. And here at Millefiori we have answered these questions based on our physician Assistants, Iris Kelley, PA-C, experience.

Do they have expertise in facial anatomy?

Questions to ask before BotoxThere are so many fields of medicine. Just because someone is a qualified doctor does not mean that they are the most qualified for your botox injections. You want to make sure the person you select has a good understanding of cosmetics and facial anatomy. You should look for someone who specializes in aesthetic medicine such as dermatology or plastic surgery. Iris the PA here at Millefiori has specialized in cosmetic/Aesthetic medicine for the past 4 year and has trained under our medical director and Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Alan Durkin.

How many years’ experience do they have with botox?

Just like any field you want the person providing your service to have experience with that particular product. You would not take your car in for an oil change and let them also rebuild your engine. You would go to someone with experience in engines. Botox is the same. Our PA Iris here at Millefiori has 4 years’ experience injecting botox.

How often are they treating clients with botox?

Some offices’ are so large that they can offer many different types of services, from skincare to body treatments, weight loss, and hair services. You want to make sure that they injector you pick is doing botox on a regular basis. You don’t want them to be “rusty” with their skills. Here at Millefiori Iris is the only provider that administers the botox. Iris sees clients everyday for injectable treatments.Questions to ask before Botox

What is the office policy on a follow up treatment?

Even though Botox has been studied very well and the FDA has an approved dose with the number of units that should be used in an area, there is still some artistry to the procedure. Every person has different facial muscles and needs a customized plan. Follow up appointments should be done about 1-2 weeks after initial dose.

Do they have before and after photos to show you?

Questions to ask before BotoxA picture is worth a thousand words. Pictures and before and after should be used during your consultation to illustrate how botox will work. At Millefiori there is a digital gallery along with Botox brand tools, to help you understand more about the treatment. You can also check out our gallery of before and after photos

What are the most common side effect seen?

Like with any medication there are always side effects to botox, most are mild. You do want to make sure that you are aware of any complications or medical conditions that may not make you a good candidate. The most common side effects are pain, redness, or discomfort at the injection site and headache. At Millefiori Iris will take the time in the consultation to make sure all your questions are answered thoroughly.

What do they need to know about your medical history?

Again just like with any medication it is important to know you medical history. With all the information about you current medications, allergies, and current medical problems we can help you decide if botox is right for you.
