Bunny Lines
The first secret place to use botox is the bunny lines. Have you ever heard of anyone talk about “bunny lines” and wonder if this was a new Easter tradition for children? Well, it actually refers to a muscle movement of the face. I personally know a lot about these pesky little lines because I have them. Think of scrunching your nose like a bunny. As a result, there are little wrinkles that occur on the sides of the nose. For me, when I wear powdered makeup at the end of the day it settles in the lines and drives me crazy. Lucky there is a quick fix…. it’s Botox. Most people think that the only area we use Botox for is the forehead and around the eyes. In reality, we have a few tricks up our sleeve. I am going to let you in on all the secret places that you can also use Botox to remove unwanted wrinkles and lines.
Gummy Smile
The second secret place to use botox is the gummy smile. When you smile, do you feel that the appearance of your upper teeth is overshadowed by excessive gum tissue? Or when you smile do you feel like too much of your upper gums show? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, you may have a condition that is commonly called a “gummy smile”.
Gummy smiles can have a negative impact on the aesthetics of your smile. The good news is that a gummy smile can be corrected with a little well-place Botox. In a quick office treatment, we are able to place two injection under the nose, which will relax the muscles across the top lip and bring it down just slightly while smiling to cover the gums
Golf ball or Orange peel chin
This one is a little more rarely used but still a great trick in my Botox arsenal. This little known indication for Botox is great for the dimples or cobblestone appearance to the chin. The cause is just a simple over activation of the muscles in that area. The Botox is used to help train you to relax those muscles. Even though fairly uncommon, it’s a very treatable condition.
Droopy Mouth
The corners of the mouth are actually medically called the oral comissure. This is another pesky little area. As we age we lose volume in this area and it will cause patients to feel like they are always sad looking. This look can also be caused by a hyperactive DAO (depressor angulii oris) muscle. This muscle can physically be pulling the corners down and making them appear droopy. With a little well placed botox into the DAO, it will help relax the muscle and literally turn your frown upside down 😉
These are just a few of my little tricks. The bottom line is to find an injector with expert experience, and that you trust. Through a full consultation you should be able to express your concerns and then establish a treatment plan with botox and other services to achieve your desired results.
