Old School VS New School
Dermaplaning is perfect for when you are out and about and the first thing you notice about someone is their face. Your face is how you greet the world. It’s the first thing people see when they see you. Whether you have healthy skin or have some skin issues you’re wishing to resolve – maintaining healthy skin care is crucial to all over health.
Obtaining healthy skin includes a combination of at home product care and routine skin care appointments. One of the best kept secrets to maintain healthy skin is exfoliation.
Keeping the skin glowing and fresh means removing the dead skin cells from the surface of your face. At Millefiori we offer two great ways of mechanical exfoliation – dermaplaning and microdermabrasion. I often get the questions – which one is better? Dermplaning or Microdermabrasion… they are both amazing but let you in on all the details of the two!
Dermaplaning
Dermplaning is a form of exfoliation where the Medical Esthetician uses a sterilized surgical blade to manually slough and scrape off any build-up of dead skin cells on the face. A bonus to this treatment is the procedure also removes any “peach fuzz” on the face. Vellus hair, aka peach fuzz, can trap dirt and oil on the skin causing break outs and a dull complexion.
NO the hair will not grow back darker or thicker; that’s a total myth.
Soft Lines
Another benefit to a dermplaning treatment is it softens the appearance of fines lines! Once your treatment is done, immediately your skin will be left feeling smoother, softer, and radiant.
This treatment is recommend every 4 to 6 weeks to remove the buildup of dead skin cells that regenerate every 28 days. Dermaplaning is painless with no recovery time; just as easy as shaving, and suitable for every skin type – even clients with sensitives or redness.
Old School
Microdermabrasion has been one of the more commonly known treatments to rejuvenate and renew the face. There are two types of treatment options – Diamond microderm and crystal microderm; at Millefiori we use the diamond microderm.
The diamond tipped wand gently removes the top layers of dead, dull skin cells using a crushed diamond-encrusted vacuum suction wand with the use of manual pressure that used properly will exfoliate the skin. The results… smother texture, brighter complexion, and collagen production – also aiding in softening fine lines and wrinkles, reducing acne scarring, hyper pigmentation and pore size.
Microdermabrasion is not for everyone; if you suffer from skin conditions such as rosacea, redness prone or sensitive skin – microderm can be too harsh for your skin type and can worsen existing skin condition.
Both dermaplaning and microdermabrasion will leave your skin looking FABULOUS, refreshed, healthy and brand new with the noninvasive, painless, and NO downtown treatments. If you’re not sure which treatment is right for you – schedule your appointment for a facial and the esthetician can discuss skin concerns and assess your skin letting you know which one is suitable to rejuvenate your skin! I’m a new school kinda gal; but both are some of my favorite treatments to perform J
Love the skin you’re in!
