Get Rid of A Pimple – FAST!
Pimple UGH!!!! Despite what most of my patients think, I do have breakouts every now and again. Everyone does! We all accidentally fall asleep with our makeup on, forget to wash our makeup/Clarisonic brush for 2 months or get into a detox and have an unexpected purge. And for some reason, it always happens before a big date, job interview or family reunion. Don’t freak out! Read below on how to get rid of a pimple – fast!
Exfoliate
Use a chemical exfoliant like a retinol, at home AHA peel (Skinceuticals Retexturing Activator is amazing!) or salicylic treatment as soon as the pimple starts presenting itself to the world. DO NOT USE A SCRUB. If it is a juicy pustule, a scrub can burst and spread that lovely bacterial fluid to areas that will soon have more breakouts.
Mask
After exfoliation (yes, that first step is mandatory), apply a clay mask to soak up excess sebum, oil and dirt. Wait 20 minutes before rinsing and can be used as a spot treatment overnight for deep pimple issues.
Anti-Inflammatory
Most of us have redness, swelling and inflammation when we have a pimple. We try to cover the swelling but the dark/red spot is almost impossible to hide. Apply an anti-inflammatory product to prevent scarring and to bring down swelling and redness. Some anti-inflammatory products like the Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective are also anti-bacterial, which will help quicker healing time and the possibility of spreading. Ice is a home-made remedy that helps with swelling and can be a quick helpful tool.
Doing the following 2x/day will nip that nasty pimple in the bud! Any questions or need a dermatological prescription? Call our office at (321) 821-4778 to schedule a complimentary consultation with our Physician Assistant and Medical Esthetician.
