When it comes to summer in Florida, that means facing the sweltering, sticky summer days. Being a girl… that also means feeling like my face is melting off. With that said, when summertime rolls around I like to pull out a few of my favorite summer makeup tricks to combat the unwanted raccoon eyes and melted face! I’m here to share with you my little tidbits that have been tested against many summers out in this blazing Florida heat; especially in my days of serving at an outdoor restaurant or glamming up one of my summer brides. Let’s jump right in!
Cake face is never a good look, and, in the summer, cake face is just WAY too heavy to withstand the humidity and heat. Summer Makeup tip #1 I like to turn to a lighter coverage such as a tinted sunscreen and light coverage from a BB cream or tinted moisturizer.
My current favorite go for that light makeup look is my Skinceuticals Physical Matte Spf – I use this as a matte sheer coverage primer then apply a light layer of my Lancome Skin Feels Good Tint for a glowing yet light coverage makeup. It’s been my staple go to the last two months!
Since it’s summer, we are all spending more time in the sun. When that happens, I take a step back and put my deep chemical peels on the back burner. BUT I still need to continue to exfoliate my face; esp in the summer when oil production is higher and that build up can clog pores. I turn to my Skinceuticals Retexturizing Activator gel – I looove this stuff.
Summer Makeup tip #2 I even use it on my little girl! This gel will gently exfoliate the skin while hydrating it with the hyaluronic acid that’s within the serum. I like to describe it was little pac-man sitting on the face clean up all the pores. With the serum, it helps give me an all over glow… healthy skin is happy bright skin!
When you’re out enjoying the sun; don’t forget to protect your skin! This is such a crucial part to enjoying fun in the sun. Not only will protecting your skin with one of our physical sunscreens. It’s important to make sure you are using the proper skin protection: there are many spf’s on the market, but many are FILLED with chemicals.
Make sure your spf contains active mineral ingredients, such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide, which work by sitting on top of the skin to deflect and scatter damaging UV rays away from the skin. Spare your skin this summer the damage of sunspots and developing that “leather like” skin because it’s damaged.
WATERPROOF EVERYTHING!! Not really but kinda. To maintain a polish, not sweating my face off look, I like to change up some of my essentials to waterproof items or even cream-based makeup items. Switching my mascaras and eyeliners to waterproof formulas has keep the raccoon eyes at bay and upholds the heat.
My cream based items are typically a cream blush or bronzer and eyeshadow; again I like to keep it light during the summer. A healthy sunglow look with sheer lipgloss on… perfect for me during the summer months. Plus it allows me to show off my healthy skin ????
Choose products like NudeStix products. Many of their items can be used on cheeks and lips as a beautiful summer stain. Simply apply straight from the bullet or with your fingers and blend into skin to give you the most subtle finish.
Summer is such a fun time; so enjoy it to the fullest and leave the worries behind. Now you can focus more on making memories and less on worrying about melting away! I feel like summer is the perfect time to flaunt that healthy skin with that summer glow that is coming naturally from healthy skin. – Sadia
