7 Top Skincare Trends for 2017

So, it is that time again. The new year is well underway. We get this overwhelming feeling to start organizing and over hauling our lives. As you are setting those goals and cleaning out your closets don’t forget about the skincare trends. You know the ladies here at Millefiori will keep you on tract! Here is a jump start to some of the trends in skincare we are going to see through 2017.

Probiotics

We have all heard the phrase you are what you eat. Well this applies to your skin as well. There is more research that is pointing to a link between inflammation in the stomach and inflammation of the skin. If you are not eating a balanced diet with probiotics you may have harmful bacterial accumulating in the stomach. Even through you may not feel sick this can lead to inflammation in the skin such as redness, acne, and rosacea. Make sure you are getting your daily dose of Yoplait!skincare trends

Hyaluronic Acid

If this word is sounding a little foreign, just wait huge skincare trend. Hyaluronic acid is going to be a big player in the skincare industry this year. It is already a standard ingredient in our injectable products such as juvederm. But now it is making its debut into topical skincare world. Skinceuticals is the product line that we are in love with here at Millefiori. They have a product called the Hydrating B5 gel, it is hyaluronic acid based and like a drink of water for your skin. It has a high percentage of the hyaluronic as well as B vitamins.

Balancing PH

Skincare TrendsThis concept may give you flash backs to chemistry class. Our skin has a certain pH that makes it happy, this number is 5.5. Products that you are using on the skin also have a set pH. If a product has a pH that is greater or less than 5.5, it can cause your skin to become unbalanced. This can result in feeling too dry or too oily. We have diligently tested with entire Skinceuticals line with pH testing paper, so you know you are in good hands with us here at Millefiori.

Less Contour

The year of 2016 was all about contour. We were constantly using different products and shades to draw shadows, highlight, sculpt and refine. In 2017 skincare trends are going more to the natural side. Think more of an all over sun-kissed glow and rosy cheeks. More natural skin tones and makeups will be taking center stage as the sculpted will be taking a back seat.

At Home Treatments

We are now in the digital/technology age. We are all about devices in our life to make things easier. Skincare is jumping on that trend. There are now multiple devices on the market that can be used at home to give you some of the effects of in-office treatments. I will tell you that there is no complete replacement for in-office treatments. Treatments done by professionals are always going to be the most aggressive and result producing. But if you want to get a jump start on your results that an at home device may be the way to go. Skinceuticals has a skin rejuvenation device called the Tria. It works in conjunction with their antioxidant products.

Skincare Trends

Retinol

Starting Retinol Cream in your 20’s. If you have been following skincare trends you know that retinol has always been one of the heavy hitters for anti-aging. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that is used to rejuvenate skin. It comes in a cream form and used at night. It will work while you get your beauty rest to, refine pores, brighten skin, smooth fine line & wrinkles, control excessive oil and fight occasional breakouts.

We used to think of this as an anti-aging product and used be women in the late 30’s or early 40’s. Now we know that retinol can be used to prevent aging and should be started as early as your 20’s. Skinceuticals makes a 1.0% Retinol that gives rx strength results without out the peeling since it is time lapsed.

On The Go Skincare

Life is hectic and busy and you need a skincare routine that matches your lifestyle. Sometimes while you are out running errands or traveling on long flights you need a pick me up and cannot make it into the bathroom to wash your face. My go to product is Avene Thermal Spring water. It is a refreshing water spray for your face that you will fall in love with. It has a special blend of mineral salts that are good for skin is made from a magic spring in France. So it has to be good. I literally have one in my bathroom, purse, and car. Another on the go product is a good toner, especially for your gym bag to hit your skin post workout before you make it to the shower.

Keep your eyes out on these trends for 2017 and DON’T hesitate to call us at the office with any questions!
